Balance. Defined as keeping all your plates spinning. Keeping all the many things ya have to do from toppling over and squashing you to the ground. Balance. Tricky this time of year.
School starting. Works in progress wanting more work. Family stuff. High holy days. Crazy. Me. Yes, crazy.
What do you do when life is yanking your chain? Last night I curled up on the couch with season 1 of Gilmore Girls, as much as I could watch before my eyes started rolling back with exhaustion. Me, the new leather love seat, the new plushy pillow, my freshly washed hair, comfy shorts and t shirt, big comforter, and the Stars Hollow gang. Not that I haven't watched these eps before. I have. But starting about 10:30, I watched 'em again til, as I say, I was bleary eyed.
Balance. A little easier with Miss Patty and Luke and Kirk and Lorelai and Rory and dear old Paris filling a piece of my head.
So what do you do when you're stressing?
Til next time...

I stress on 2 things, kids and money. Baruch Hashem I have Jeff to just listen to me go on and on. My stress is my creation...he knows it will pass when I have something real to worry about....like my newish dishwasher smoking and blowing up on me...like my older yet still new washing machine overflowing anytime I put a "large" load in.
And then I think about what our Rabbi Chaim talked about in one class...if you always had good, how would you know when you DID have it good..you need a little bad to recognize the blessings.
My stress is nothing compared to other's I know. I am not dealing with daily radiation treatments for breast cancer, my husband has a great job, my kids are all in school, I have a nice house ( even though parts are falling apart)with a mortgage I can afford, I get to drive the new car....
I get stressed when Daniel want to spend a semester in Israel and I know we can't afford it, I get stressed when he drives himself and Josh to school, I get stressed that Adriel works late, I get stressed that I have to stay with Sprint one more year...
So what do I do besides talking to Jeff? I am a lot like you..I watch mindless TV till I fall asleep, then I wake up at 12:30AM and can't go back to sleep till 5:30 AM..I try and reframe what I am stressed about. Usually see that I am making a big deal about nothing.

Blissing out on favorite TV is a big stress buster for me, too.
I also tend to get very domestic. When I feel like I'm losing control of everything else in my world -- it is very calming to accomplish something tangible in the kitchen or at the sewing machine.
